Our Scholars are intelligent, involved in their community and church as well as good role models for their fellow students. They have chosen to attend a variety of Archdiocesan High Schools in the Philadelphia Area.

OUR SCHOLARS...

Our Scholars program adheres to guidelines and regulations to provide a fair and objective approach to choosing students. Each child must sit for an academic exam to qualify, as well as maintain a grade point average above 85% each academic year. 

The Saint John Vianney Scholars program is leading the way with the only formal parish scholarship program in the Philadelphia Archdiocese. Our scholars continue to exhibit their excellence:
  • Total Scholars in our Program: 27
  • Average GPA of Scholars: 94%
  • Scholars ranked in top 5 in their class: 11
  • Scholars in the top 5% of Class: 44%
  • Scholars in the top 10% of Class: 59%
  • Scholars in the top 25% of Class: 96%


2016 SCHOLARSHIP SUNDAY

The 2016 SJV Scholars Installation of the Class of 2020 and the Graduation celebration of the Class of 2016 was held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at St. John Vianney Church. This was an exciting day as our new scholars were presented with their scholarship certificates and the graduation class were all given award trophies.

A few of our graduating scholars from the Class of 2016 stepped in front of the camera and tell us a little about their journey and how the SJV Scholars Program made a difference in their Catholic High School education. All of our graduating scholars have been accepted into college and have received significant scholarships to outstanding universities.

  • Temple University - Presidential Scholarship ($88,000)
  • University of Pennsylvania - Penn Mayor's Scholarship ($185,340)
  • Arcadia University - Distinguished Scholarship ($74,000)
  • LaSalle University - Christian Brothers Scholarship ($22,000/yr)
  • Drexel University - AJ Drexel Scholarship ($81,240)

We believe that we have created a program that everyone can unite behind and truly make a difference in the lives of many children. The Saint John Vianney Scholars Program is the only one of its kind at a parish level. We are beginning to gather excitement from other parishes to follow in our footsteps.
